Tuesday–Thursday: Run One Tiny Test. Not a “strategy.” Not a rebrand. A test you can complete fast enough to stay honest.
Friday: Decide + Log. Keep, kill, or iterate—based on what happened, not what you hoped.

Leading Indicator (choose one):

Trial-to-activation rate
Demo-to-next-step rate

Success Threshold: We call this “working” if__________ by________.
Kill Criterion: We stop if________ by________.
That last line is where pros separate from amateurs. Pre-committing your stop rule protects you from sunk-cost delusion and “maybe if we just tweak it one more time.”
Leading Indicators: Stop Waiting for Revenue to Tell You the Truth
Revenue is a lagging indicator. It’s the scoreboard. It tells you what happened after the game. A lab steers with leading indicators—signals that move before revenue moves.
If you’re testing positioning, measure behavior, not applause: replies, calls booked, demo requests, checkout starts
If you’re testing onboarding, measure first value: activation milestones, time-to-first-value, week-1 return
Your job isn’t to just “get numbers.” Your job is to get numbers that let you make a decision this week.
The Founder Upgrade: Kill Switches + Learning Logs
A learning log is the compound interest of experimentation. Every Friday, log five bullets:
What we believed
What we tested
What happened
What surprised us
What we’re doing next week
Over time, this becomes your internal “buyer physics” doc—what actually moves your market.
And if you want proof that experimentation scales into a competitive advantage: Ron Kohavi (and co-authors) note that Google, LinkedIn, and Microsoft have run rates over 20,000 controlled experiments per year (counting methods vary), because it’s how they make decisions at speed without relying on opinions.
